1. What this site is
isthehormuz.com(“the Site”) is a satirical, editorial, and educational project about the Strait of Hormuz. Nothing on the Site constitutes news, financial advice, maritime advice, political endorsement, or legal counsel. Everything is commentary.
2. User-placed banners
When you purchase an “operation,” you are paying to display a short piece of user-generated text on a satirical game map for up to seven days. You retain ownership of your text, but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, cache, archive, and include it in screenshots and social shares for as long as the Site operates.
3. Content you may not submit
- Threats of violence against any person or group.
- Slurs, hate speech, or targeted harassment.
- CSAM, terroristic content, or doxxing.
- Content that infringes a third party’s intellectual property.
- Impersonation of real people in a way that could defame or mislead.
We reserve the right to remove any banner at our sole discretion, with or without refund, if we determine it violates these Terms, applicable law, or our community standards.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We never see or store your full card number. Prices displayed include the live pricing multiplier and desk surcharge computed at checkout; the price shown before the final checkout button is the amount charged. All sales are final; we do not offer refunds except where required by law.
5. No warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, or availability of anything on the Site, including but not limited to the “tension index,” the “market ticker,” and any news headlines surfaced from third-party feeds. Do not make decisions based on this Site.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the operators of isthehormuz.com be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Site. Our total liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
7. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
